Key Components

The programme is structured around personal and group learning journeys that starts with knowledge sharing and includes:

Panel presentations
Topic experts and respected leaders are invited to share their knowledge, views and stories through a series of panel discussions and presentations. Participants have the opportunity to interact with these speakers and learn from their experience in specific fields.

Thematic working groups
Participants at the International Session are assigned to working groups during the week to tackle a specific task related to one of the four thematic units. Individuals will work together drawing on their cultural and professional differences to deliver concrete results as a high-performance team.

Leadership skills building
Participants will choose to take part in two of the four leadership skills modules:
•    Stakeholder engagement
•    Getting your message across
•    Ethical decision-making
•    Working across cultures

Site visits and meetings with stakeholders
LEAD embeds theory and learning in practical, experiential site visits. These site visits are selected to demonstrate the real-world challenges faced by different stakeholders around the issues explored in the four thematic units, and are directly related to the working groups tasks.

Peer learning
The range of skills, knowledge, experience and passion represented by LEAD IS participants is unique. As such, peer learning forms an important element in LEAD training and is drawn out through a structured approach to group discussion, working groups, and cultural and social events.

Networking
Networking among the diverse people that attend LEAD International Sessions is hugely valuable. Participants are encouraged to use formal and informal networking opportunities to build relationships, make connections and forge friendships that will support them and their work as they move forward to take on greater leadership roles for sustainable development.
